You don’t want a better life.

If you did, you’d have it.

You say you want more money. You want more time. You want to lose weight. You want to travel. You want to cook. You want to quit your job. You want to learn a new skill. You want to learn a new language.

Well here’s the truth: no you don’t.

If you want something, you go after it. If you don’t, then you never wanted it. You want the rewards, not the reality. The rewards of having more money are great. The realities of saving, investing, and working to earn more are not half so palatable.

I’m not saying you’ll have a perfect life. Nor will you have everything you dream of. You probably won’t. But it’s totally and completely within your power to be better.

You can learn how to program. Or learn another language. You can learn to cook.

They’re small steps, but they’ll take you towards a better life. Want to travel more? Then buy a plane ticket. Today. Right now. Stop reading this and go buy one. Whatever your dream is, take a step towards it. Whatever bothers you, take a step towards fixing it. Imagine making a small improvement every single day for a week. Or for a month. Or for a year. Think of how far these small steps can take you.

You won’t have a perfect life tomorrow. You can have a better one.

But only if you want it.
